The General Administration of Customs of China released the latest foreign trade data on September 8th. Looking at the monthly trends, China's total import and export value of goods reached 3.87 trillion yuan in August, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%. Although the growth rate dropped by 3.2 percentage points from July, exports reached 2.3 trillion yuan and imports reached 1.57 trillion yuan, up 4.8% and 1.7% year-on-year, respectively, marking three consecutive months of double-digit growth.
In August, the back-to-school economy and the rise of popular Chinese cultural brands drove rapid growth in exports of some stationery products, such as pens and their parts. Meanwhile, imports of bulk commodities increased in August, with imports of some parts and components growing rapidly. Imports of goods closely related to people's daily lives, such as sporting goods and dried and fresh fruits, saw double-digit growth. (From Xinhua News Agency)
